Volunteer
Recognition Awards
The annual Volunteer Recognition program, sponsored by the
Farmington Area Commission on Aging and the City of Farmington
Hills Senior Division, is seeking nominees for Volunteer Service
Awards. The Gold Award is presented to an individual 50 years or
better who is a current active volunteer providing service in
Farmington and/or Farmington Hills. The Diamond Award is the same,
except it is presented to an individual 75 years or better.
These two awards provide the Commission on Aging the
opportunity to recognize and honor the outstanding volunteerism
found in our community. The annual reception, held each spring, is
always a special event attended by more than 250 volunteers and
honored guests.
Last year’s Diamond Award recipient was Lincoln Avery of
Farmington Hills, who was recognized for his service with the
Beautification Commission and his church. Ginny Morris of
Farmington was last year’s Gold Award recipient for her service
with several Farmington Hills community organizations.
Citizens are encouraged to submit nominations to be considered
for these prestigious awards. The deadline for submitting
nominations is March 18, 2011.
