Hats Off To The ArtsFestival of the Arts, April 22 - 24, 2010
"Hats Off To The Arts"

Costick Center

The annual Festival of the Arts is a community-wide celebration of the arts - a collaborative effort presented by the City of Farmington Hills Special Services Department, the Farmington Community Arts Council, and the Farmington Public Schools. The festival features numerous special events and activities throughout the week, as well as over 200 framed and unframed paintings for sale by the Farmington Art Foundation, informational displays by community cultural organizations, and student artwork from private and public schools and Oakland Community College. The Festival of the Arts was recognized in 2007 by the National League of Cities as a showcase event at its national convention in New Orleans.

During the week, hundreds of children visit the festival, listen to school groups perform, experience hands-on art activities and see demonstrating artists. Award ceremonies and city activities are also held during the week. Other special events include:

ART AFTER DARK – the fabulously popular wine/jazz/fun event

Art After Dark on Friday night, hosted by Whole Foods Market of West Bloomfield, has become one of the highlights of the Festival of the Arts. With 30 wines to taste, delectable foods and great live jazz, visitors can stroll the artwork and enjoy the exhibits.

FREE FAMILY FESTIVAL – The family festival is an exciting day that offers art experiences for all ages, with ongoing live performances, hands-on art activities for children, area artists demonstrating a wide variety of art from sculpture to weaving, and art for sale.
Many area businesses and organizations provide support for the Festival, with sponsorships, auction donations and volunteers. To learn more about these opportunities, or for general information on the festival, please call the Cultural Arts Division, at (248) 473-1856.
