Voter Registration and Application Information

 Voter Registration Application

In order to register to vote:

  • You must be a citizen of the United States.
  • You must be a resident of the State of Michigan and at least a 30-day resident of the City by Election Day.
  • You must be 18 years of age or older by Election Day.

You may register to vote at any Secretary of State’s Office or by contacting your County Clerk or City Clerk’s Office. PLEASE NOTE that by law, the address on your driver’s license record must match the address on your voter registration record. If you make a change to either record it will automatically change the other.

You must be registered 30 days prior to an election in order to be eligible to vote in that election.

IMPORTANT (especially for college students):  Please be advised that if you register to vote by mail, you have to vote in person your first time at your Precinct location and are not eligible to receive an absentee ballot.  This does not apply to anyone 60 years of age or older. 

If you register to vote at any Secretary of State's Office or your local City Clerk's Office in person you would be eligible to receive an absentee ballot.  If you have any questions, please contact our office at (248) 871-2410
