Economic Development Corporation
Overview
In 1979, the Farmington Hills City Council
established the Economic Development Corporation (EDC), a public
entity encouraging the establishment of businesses beneficial to
the community. Its board members represent leaders from both
business and the City.
The Farmington Hills EDC is committed to supporting new and
existing industries. Backed by City government and community
leaders, the EDC aims to create an environment conducive to the
growth of industry while maintaining the interests of the
community as a whole.
Tax Exempt Revenue Bonds
The EDC encourages the establishment of businesses beneficial
to the community through Tax Exempt Revenue Bonds. For more

Mentoring Program
The Farmington Hills Economic Development Corporation proudly
collaborates with the Farmington Public School District to offer a
mentoring program for middle school students (ages 11-14). Mentors
are made up of local business and community leaders that volunteer
to meet with the students 10 to 12 times during a school year.
Students participating in the mentor program are selected based on
recommendations from teachers, counselors and principals.
Meetings between the mentors and students take place at school
and the worksite and usually last about two hours. Meetings
include sharing information about careers, discussing career paths
and employability skills, school performance and attitudes.
The 2007/08 school year is the eighth year of this worthwhile
program. If you are interested in participating, please contact
the Farmington Public School District at (248) 426-4876.
